...but we sure had a great time! What a fun trip! We our second annual girls weekend ...this year it was in Topeka, Kansas! My mom,two sisters Amy and Kelsey, and Amy's little baby Maggie flew out to visit my sister Kristin and her family. Her husband Jared is in law school out there. It was a quick weekend trip...just Friday to Monday. A pretty big adventure traveling with just us girls...no one who really knew what they were doing. It started out right with the power going out the day we left for the airport. Luckily, we all woke up on time but we didn't look to pretty! None of us had makeup on my mom did get hers on with the help of the car light. But she had woke up early to get things done, and left her hair for the end. By then, there was no power and no time, so she had to go like she was. She was not happy about it. We all told her it was not that bad, but I know she felt like a dog the whole trip out there. It made the trip start on a hilarious note. We made it through the airport, landed and rented our stylin' minivan. I got to be the driver and Kelsey was the navigator and radio controller. (we even stopped to get a cord so she could hook up her ipod...that girl is obsessed with music!)It took about an hour get to her house. The drive was so pretty! It was a lot prettier than I expected. Green rolling hills and a lot of farmland is what we saw on the way in. We pulled into our hotel...we couldn't miss it...it was right next to Hooters! We thought we better clean up quick before going to see Kristin. We drove right to Kristin's house, and didn't even get lost! (Thanks to our GPS thing...we named her Hilga...she was a great help!) Her house was right across from Washburn campus and right next to a little lawfirm. We pulled up to her house honking and balling at the same time! Brayden and Jack were outside playing and Kristin was waving and balling with the rest of us! It is always good to see family you've been away from for a while! They have a darling little apartment with a cute little yard. Kristin has done a great job making it feel really "homey" and organized. We started off right with a great meal from Boss Hawg's BBQ, it was excellent! We ate until we were sick! Then we went and crashed at our hotel...we were wasted from our crazy day of traveling. The next day, Saturday, was a full day. We started off by going to a beauty school to have our pedicures...a must for the "girls weekend"! Our toes turned out so cute! We then went to the farmers Market and bought some Kettle corn, some fun jewelry, and Kristin bought some flowers for her house. We went and picked up the boys and went to Bobo's drive-in and had a fabulous hamburger and an RC Cola. It was awesome! Amy finished hers before the rest of us...she's not a big meat eater...so that was impressive! (fyi-If your a fan of the Food Network (I'm obsessed!) Bobo's was featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.) What a great lunch! We then headed off to Gage Park. It was a huge park. We rode the train around the park and passed by the rose garden, tons of beautiful tulips and even a wedding ceremony! Brayden and Jack even got to toot the horn on the train. We stayed for a while to let the kids run and play, they had several things to climb on and playgrounds to play on. There was even a merry-go-round there! It was a fun place to hang out. Our next adventure was back to the hotel to go swimming. The boys were excited to go. We swam for a while and then went back to our room and made a Kristin salad for dinner. It something we like to have with the girls! We ended our day at Kristin's place and watched a chick flick... 27 dresses....cute show. Sunday we went to church...it was the first time we had seen Jared. We went on finals weekend, so he had been studying like crazy...getting home at 11-12 each night. I don't envy you Jared...you're a hard worker...I couldn't handle it! Sunday was really casual, we had lunch at Kristin's house and just hung out. I colored Kristin's hair and cut Jared and the boy's hair. We took a walk up to the Washburn campus and went to the see the Bell Tower and the fish pond. It was fun to just relax and talk. Monday morning we were leaving already! Time went by so fast. We met Kristin and the kids at Ihop for an early breakfast. Brayden went to school a little late that day. We had a bittersweet time, knowing it was time to say those stupid goodbyes that we all hate. It doesn't help when your mom starts it out right by crying. We made it through..it sucked...but we'll be hanging out again soon, I'm sure. Thanks for the great weekend Kristin and Jared, we all had an awesome time!

How fun! How much longer does he have? My sister Lindsay and her hubby just finished the law school adventure. They move home tomorrow! You are the cutest family. I loved that you all cried! That is a sign of how close you are. It has been really hard having my sister gone, I feel your pain!
Hey you told me the other day that you don't do anything fun or adventurous. Who ever said going to hooters isn't fun or adventurous.
Dave
After reading that, you have me feeling like I got left out. I'm going to email the girls in my family to plan a little outing. I SO need a break from my kids!!! Love 'em but it's time for a break! Looks like you guys had a great time!
